Inconsistent, overpriced food.
Disinterested service staff that would rather be somewhere else.
At least the dishes are pretty simple Korean comfort food so it's pretty hard to mess up. But let's be honest. There are a lot of other places nearby that offer better food, service and value.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 16, 2018
We came here for lunch a bit after 12 (before the lunch rush hour). My friend and I shared a side dish (Spicy Carbonara Topokki) and a rice dish (Grilled Jjangachi Butter Bibimbap). The wait for the food wasn't long and we were served some soup beforehand.
The Spicy Carbonara Topokki was pretty good. The dish had rice cakes, onions and mushrooms. Not spicy at all in my opinion and the Topokki was so soft and chewy (the consistency was similar to Italian gnocchi).
The Grilled Jjangachi Butter Bibimbap was delicious! Definitely order this if you eat here! This dish is their best seller and is topped with sliced beef, sautéed vegetables and dried seaweed.
Considering we ordered a side and a main dish, I was surprised how filling this was! The portions were pretty big and my friend and I were full after eating lunch here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 622862708May 10, 2017
I found some korean snack ddokbokki and sundae casual restaurant in Buena Park.
Wow!!! I checked the review before I went there tonight.
So fresh, tasty, really good...yum.
I ordered ddokbokki, sundae, and the comination rolls w anchovy, tuna, and kimchi.
Everything was so fresh n delicious. A lot better than other ddokbokki restaurants around Buena Park.
Big Surprise for the taste but I found something wrong on my receipt. And also,
I am a little concerned about the service to take out the foods w sauce like ddokbokki w/o soup bowl container. Not easy to take out...:(
When I checked the receipt, they charged 9% tax instead of 7.75%. The sales tax is 7.75% in the city of Buena Park. What is going on here??? This is illegal. I've never been charged that wrong tax in my life. How can I trust this restaurant? So upset!!! :(
Don't go to this restaurant!!!
They are cheating on tax.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 29, 2018
My friend and I were craving for some gimbap and stumbled upon this page. We were looking through the pictures and it looked pretty good, so we decided to come here for dinner. We got here around 6 pm on a Sunday night and there were about 4 other tables that were occupied out of the maybe 10 total.
When we were first looking at the menu and saw that their combination roll was around $9, we thought that was a really good deal because it came with so many rolls. We ended up ordering the Yogi special #2 because it was supposedly their best one and we ordered their kimchi bibim noodle. Beware that the menu doesn't have an English description, which was kind of disappointing.
When the yogi special came out, we were both kind of taken aback because of its size. I should have realized it would be on the smaller side when the price seemed pretty cheap. My fault for thinking it would be a more common sized roll. I also didn't realize that the roll wasn't a traditional gimbap, which would usually have rice, meat/protein with radish and other vegetables. This roll only came with the rice and protein. Guess that was my fault again for not looking closely.
The combination we got was a spam roll, a crab & roe roll, and I'm not quite sure about the third one. I didn't really enjoy the crab and roe roll, in fact, that was probably my least favorite of the three. The roll that we didn't know what was inside was my second favorite. It has a chewy texture and seemed like a seafood, but still couldn't quite pinpoint what it was; maybe squid? The best of the three was the spam, but that wasn't a surprise because you can't really go wrong with spam.
The kimchi bibim noodle was my favorite. It was a cold noodle dish that had a really traditionally korean taste. I can't really say more about the taste other than that, but I really enjoyed it. The noodles were a bit difficult to grab because it was all just a blob when you tried to pick it up. The noodles were very thin, kind of like vermicelli. I do wish that the dish had more noodles though.
This place is located in a corner with its own private parking lot and we didn't have any problems with parking on a Sunday night.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 463108178Jul 2, 2017
I came in around 3:30 and there was only one other table, so it wasn't crowded at all. We were seated right away upon walking in. There was only one person working cashier and waiter. There were no utensils at our table so he just quickly put some down while we were sitting. He was pretty attentive and gave us recommendations when I asked for some because I've never been here before.
Food came out fairly fast! So that was good. It came with complimentary soup, kind of bland but free so why not right?! We ordered the kimchi fried rice, which came with an egg topped on it. The kimchi was fermented super well too! We also ordered the cheese topokki with medium spicy and it sure had a kick to it! Considering the fact that I really like spicy food, the medium spicy had a good kick to it and was super good! It was very chewy and soft :3 The last thing we ordered was the yogi 3 special roll, which came with spicy anchovies, bulgogi, and bacon. My favorite was the spicy anchovies, sounds weird at first, but you must give it a try! The presentation of the food were super cute as well!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 27, 2017
The soy carbonara was surprisingly delicious out off all the dishes we ordered. The rice cake worked so well with the soy cream based sauce. There was a deep roasted onion like flavor and the dish itself wasn't heavy at all. All my stars go to this one.
The other dishes we ordered was the yogi special 2 which I don't remember which it consisted of since it was forgettable. The spicy tteokbokki with tonkatsu was your typical tasting Korean street food. Nothing amazing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 16, 2016
KOREAN STREET FOOD CRAVINGS MET...AND FULLY SATISFIED... until I return to Korea, this place quickly became my go-to since tripping across the restaurant thanks to my fellow Yelpers!
Quick prompt service. Friendly Staff. Neat and tidy dining space. My favorite here has been the spicy carbonara rice cake. Delicious!!! Something so savory and creamy about this dish. Their side orders or mandu is perfect for me to satisfy the fried food craving. Even their dining - in side of soup is delicious. Light and not too salty. I tried their kimbap on a recent visit and nothing I felt a craving for again. My lunches are often solo, so if I had a bigger group with me, this place is perfect to get those little bites and cravings here.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jul 16, 2018
Stumbled across this place when I was looking for Korean food in Buena Park. The types of food reminds me of school food but a little cheaper(?). There's a selection of ddukbokki, kimbap, bibimbap, etc.
I had the carbonara ddukbokki which had bits of pork belly and sprinkled with pepper flakes. It tasted creamy and delicious. At first the portion looked really small, but rice cakes really do fill you up, at least for me it did. I also had an order of the yogi special #2 which was a combination of spam, egg smelt, and squid. There was actually no egg smelt available that day so I substituted for beef. The rolls are pretty small compared to your usual gimbap. It feels more like an addition to the actual meal rather than a full meal.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Deborah P.Anaheim, CA315214561Jan 3, 2018
I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere!
It's located in a easy-to-miss area near an intersection but it's right next to the gas station!
I finally got a chance to check this place out tonight. Finallyyyy~
Based on posts I've seen before, I think this place is similar to a place in LA (I haven't been there).
Korean food is always comfort food to me so I enjoy it very much and I love street food!
FOOD:
Roll #1 - there was 3 different types of kimbap; tuna, kimchi and anchovy. All my favorites on one platter :)
Combination ddukbokki - Ddukokki was a little too sweet according to my friend but it was still good. Along that cake fried dumplings, soondae (I'm not sure how to describe in English, sorry!) and glass noodle wrapped in seaweed deep fried.
Despite the fact that it was almost a full house and 1 worker, service was good. He was attentive and friendly.
Food is a tad bit over priced for what it is.. If you're super hungry, I don't recommend this place unless you're eating alone. Portions are good for MAYBE 2 people.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
